“A fundamentalist is a person who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith before they explore it.” — Seth Godin

This applies to everything you do beyond religion. Harvard psychology professor, Ellen Langer, pointed out how mindless people are in business; we find the very best way of doing things, name it as the “best practice” and keep doing things that way, even though contexts may change.

No matter what you’re doing — eating a sandwich, doing an interview, working on some gizmo, writing a report — you’re doing it mindfully or mindlessly, she says.

When you do things mindfully, curiosity is always present. As a result, you might try different ways. When you do things mindlessly, you never question what, why, or how you are doing. You become a fundamentalist.
